'Critical Thinking Blog Post # 8' - Final course reflection

In this class I have learned a lot of things, including a new way to perceive science and technology. This class has tought me to think responsibly about the limitations of science and the waste of technology products. Products such as mp3, tablets, among others do much more damage to the living environment, that kills landscape, and even worse, the production of these products exploit people and violated their human rights. The example of Einstein and Frankinstein in the idea of
science going to far, they do more bad than good. This class has opened up my mind to new ideas, and to always see beyond what is shown. To always used critical thinking and make it part of my everyday life.

'Critical Thinking Blog Post #7' - Critical thinking about a Science's life and work

Rosalind Franklin was a woman who worked as a chemist and biologist in the early 20th century. She was the person who discovers and took the first model of DNA, but unfortunately did not receive any credit for her hard work. Franklin worked in a male dominated environment, in which she was described as an antisocial person. Most of the time she used to spend her time in the laboratory doing work, while her co-workers were relaxed.

Her work was unappreciated because she was very reserved with her job, and did not share any information with anybody, but this attitude did not help her at the end. Because Watson took the Nobel price and she was not given any price for the hard work she done. Her discovered with the DNA model help science and humans to understand better the way genetics work. Franklin's work can be consider part of humanities and is something that still surprise people.

"Critical thinking blog post #4"- The Promise and Peril of Robots in Film, TV and Real Life: Friends or Foes?
When robots such as Electro came out in the 1960’s people did not really fear them. But as time passed by, and technology advanced in new inventions robots became a bit more sophisticated. In the movie I, robot, Sonny (the main robot) is created with human qualities, like emotions. He is able to fear, and to have sympathy towards other robots and humans.  Besides, Sonny is helpful to humans and even has grace when he moves. Instead Electro did not foes because his movements were too coarse, he is slow and clumsy.
It is clear that in modern times people do have certain fear toward robots. I mean robots and other machines have had already taken jobs away from humans. It is also true that media tries to befriends robots to humans, so that way humans do not act in any harmful way against technology.
Technology forms part of humans everyday life, now people are dependend of their cellphones, to their computers, and even transportation. Since humans are so attrached these technologies, they prefer not to see how dependeable they are to robotics and science.

Blog#3- Research Idea
During the last 50 years there has been a lot new research about evolutionary psychology and many new things that people unacknowledged has been found. Such as that people are psychological determinate to fall in love with certain type of people depending of their memories as growing up. For example, men usually look for women with characteristics that his mother had or the mother figure that may had, just like women would fall for someone who had the qualities of the father figure that she got at home; this behavior is done unconsciously, on both cases. This kind of ideas have been discover recently in the 20th century, that’s why it is so important for humans, because it explains a lot of things of the human behavior.
Before evolutionary psychology there was the idea of two existential groups, the good and the evil. Now is has become common knowledge that the brain has different functions and that these functions do affect people’s everyday life, therefore there is no such thing as bad or good people, its more complex than that. If people behave certain ways it’s because they had some trauma in their lives, this is known because psychology explain it to us that. Evolutionary psychology has lead into the development of other subcategories that explore the complex structure of the brain.
One of the many things tha psychology has help us to clear out is the complicated  situation of knowing why do we are attracted to certin type of people. This is the attraction theory, which explains what are the most common characteristics that people look for in another person, besides basic attractions signs such hygene, appearence, among others features.

Blog # 2: tecnology today awe us or ?

As time has pass by the advance of technology has become part of humans’ everyday life. Even to the point where our life is stop by it, if people do not have their computers or technological devices with them of without battery they cannot conceive to continue working without these objects. Technology has impact not only the work environment, but also our social media and social life. It has become common and usual to see people chatting with their cell phones instead of chatting with people. The interaction of people among themselves has become null.

Social media has a big role in this transformation of roles. when technology first came out it was use strictly for work use, and most of the time it was related with business people, but now technology has cover mostly every aspect of life. If people want to check the weather, they just have to download an ap for that, if an athletic person wants to check how many calories he burn he just have to use the right ap to know that. Even vocabulary has change, the way people write and speck also has change due to technology.

Critical Thinking- Assignment # 1

Hi! My name is Adriana Huinatl and this is my second year here at LaGuardia Community College. My major is Liberal Arts: Humanities and Science, and which Im planning on graduating from here and then move on to a four-year college. Right now my main option is City College because thats the only college that offers the major that I want to follow, which is International Studies. Another option that I have is more towards the Political Sciences, and that gives me more options when it comes to choose a collge.

Some of the main reasons why I like International Studies and the Political Science is becasue I consider myself to be  Humanist. I believe in human quialites to take different aproches towards solving general problems including the emotional ones, which are not less important than the rational probelems that machines and the science can only solve.

The reason why I like thre idea of Humanist is since I first studied the Renassaince and the other eras that came after that, which were provoke by the Renassaince. After the Medieveal times, or also call the Dark Ages, the Re-birth of culture, art, thinkers such as Leonardo DaVince and Rembrack, Rene Decartes, Hume and among others. These people I feel are the great thinkers that started the path for future people that will follow the same steps. These thinkers came out with ideas that revolution the rest of the humanity and even nowdays we study in universities, the big accomplishment among others was the fact that most of these thinkers were at the same time very religious people. Such Eras like the Renaissance open the path to new eras such as the Enlightment, Reformation, Scentific Revolution and the Industrial Revolution which lasted until the 20th century.
